1
ואמרו תלמידי נבייא לאלישע הא כען אתרא די אנחנא יתבין תמן קדמך עק לנא:
lna eq qdmk thmn ythbyn ankhna dy athra ken ha lalyshe nbyya thlmydy wamrw
The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we live and meet with you is too small for us.

ניזל כען עד ירדנא ונסב מתמן גבר כשורא חדא ונעביד לנא תמן אתרא למתב תמן ואמר אזילו:
azylw wamr thmn lmthb athra thmn lna wnebyd khda kshwra gbr mthmn wnsb yrdna ed ken nyzl
Please let us go to the Jordan, and each man take a beam from there, and let’s make us a place there, where we may live.” He answered, “Go!”

ואמר חד שרי כען ואזיל עם עבדך ואמר אנא איזיל:
ayzyl ana wamr ebdk em wazyl ken shry khd wamr
One said, “Please be pleased to go with your servants.” He answered, “I will go.”

ואזל עמהון ואתו לירדנא וקצו אעיא:
aeya wqtsw lyrdna wathw emhwn wazl
So he went with them. When they came to the Jordan, they cut down wood.

והוה חד מחי בשריתא ואשתליף ברזלא ונפל למיא וצוח ואמר בבעו רבוני והוא משאל שאילתיה:
shaylthyh mshal whwa rbwny bbew wamr wtswkh lmya wnpl brzla washthlyp bshrytha mkhy khd whwh
But as one was cutting down a tree, the ax head fell into the water. Then he cried out and said, “Alas, my master! For it was borrowed.”

ואמר נביא דיי אן נפל ואחזיה ית אתרא וקץ אעא ורמא לתמן וקפא ברזלא:
brzla wqpa lthmn wrma aea wqts athra yth wakhzyh npl an dyy nbya wamr
The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” He showed him the place. He cut down a stick, threw it in there, and made the iron float.

ואמר טול לך ואושיט ידיה ונסביה:
wnsbyh ydyh wawshyT lk Twl wamr
He said, “Take it.” So he put out his hand and took it.
8
ומלכא דארם הוה מגיח קרבא בישראל ואתמלך בעבדוהי למימר לאתר כסי טמיר יהי בית משרי:
mshry byth yhy Tmyr ksy lathr lmymr bebdwhy wathmlk byshral qrba mgykh hwh darm wmlka
Now the king of Syria was at war against Israel; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, “My camp will be in such and such a place.”

ושלח נביא דיי לות מלכא דישראל למימר אסתמר מלמעבר אתרא הדין ארי תמן אנש ארם כסן:
ksn arm ansh thmn ary hdyn athra mlmebr asthmr lmymr dyshral mlka lwth dyy nbya wshlkh
The man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, “Beware that you not pass this place, for the Syrians are coming down there.”

ושלח מלכא דישראל לאתרא די אמר ליה נביא דיי ואזהריה ואסתמר תמן לא חדא זימנא ולא תרתין זמנין:
zmnyn thrthyn wla zymna khda la thmn wasthmr wazhryh dyy nbya lyh amr dy lathra dyshral mlka wshlkh
The king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of; and he saved himself there, not once or twice.

ואסתער לבא דמלכא דארם על פתגמא הדין וקרא לעבדוהי ואמר להון הלא תחוון לי מן מדילנא גלי רזי למלכא דישראל:
dyshral lmlka rzy gly mdylna mn ly thkhwwn hla lhwn wamr lebdwhy wqra hdyn pthgma el darm dmlka lba wasther
The king of Syria’s heart was very troubled about this. He called his servants, and said to them, “Won’t you show me which of us is for the king of Israel?”

ואמר חד מעבדוהי לא רבוני מלכא ארי אלישע נביא די בישראל יחוי למלכא דישראל ית פתגמיא די תמליל באדרון בית משכבך:
mshkbk byth badrwn thmlyl dy pthgmya yth dyshral lmlka ykhwy byshral dy nbya alyshe ary mlka rbwny la mebdwhy khd wamr
One of his servants said, “No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

ואמר אזילו וחזו היכא הוא ואשלח ואדבריניה ואתחוא ליה למימר הא בדותן:
bdwthn ha lmymr lyh wathkhwa wadbrynyh washlkh hwa hyka wkhzw azylw wamr
He said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” He was told, “Behold, he is in Dothan.”

ושלח תמן סוסון ורתיכין ומשרין סגיאין ואתו בליליא ואקיפו על קרתא:
qrtha el waqypw blylya wathw sgyayn wmshryn wrthykyn swswn thmn wshlkh
Therefore he sent horses, chariots, and a great army there. They came by night and surrounded the city.

ואקדים משומשניה דנביא דיי למיקם ונפק והא משרין אקיפא ית קרתא סוסון ורתיכין ואמר עולימיה ליה בבעו רבוני איכדין נעביד:
nebyd aykdyn rbwny bbew lyh ewlymyh wamr wrthykyn swswn qrtha yth aqypa mshryn wha wnpq lmyqm dyy dnbya mshwmshnyh waqdym
When the servant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. His servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

ואמר לא תדחל ארי סגיאין דעמנא מדעמהון:
mdemhwn demna sgyayn ary thdkhl la wamr
He answered, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
17
וצלי אלישע ואמר יי גלי כען ית עינוהי ויחזי וגלא יי ית עיני רביא וחזא והא טורא מלי סוסון ורתיכין דאשתא סחרנות אלישע:
alyshe skhrnwth dashtha wrthykyn swswn mly Twra wha wkhza rbya eyny yth yy wgla wykhzy eynwhy yth ken gly yy wamr alyshe wtsly
Elisha prayed, and said, “Yahweh, please open his eyes, that he may see.” Yahweh opened the young man’s eyes, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.

ונחתו לותיה וצלי אלישע קדם יי ואמר מחי כען ית עמא הדין בשבריריא ומחנן בשבריריא כפתגמא דאלישע:
dalyshe kpthgma bshbryrya wmkhnn bshbryrya hdyn ema yth ken mkhy wamr yy qdm alyshe wtsly lwthyh wnkhthw
When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to Yahweh, and said, “Please strike this people with blindness.” He struck them with blindness according to Elisha’s word.

ואמר להון אלישע לא דין אורחא ולא דא קרתא איתו בתרי ואוביל יתכון לות גבר די אתון בען ואוביל יתהון לשמרון:
lshmrwn ythhwn wawbyl ben athwn dy gbr lwth ythkwn wawbyl bthry aythw qrtha da wla awrkha dyn la alyshe lhwn wamr
Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, neither is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek.” He led them to Samaria.

והוה כמיעלהון לשמרון ואמר אלישע יי גלי ית עיני אלין ויחזון וגלא יי ית עיניהון וחזו והא בגו שמרון:
shmrwn bgw wha wkhzw eynyhwn yth yy wgla wykhzwn alyn eyny yth gly yy alyshe wamr lshmrwn kmyelhwn whwh
When they had come into Samaria, Elisha said, “Yahweh, open these men’s eyes, that they may see.” Yahweh opened their eyes, and they saw; and behold, they were in the middle of Samaria.

ואמר מלכא דישראל לאלישע כד חזא יתהון המקטול אקטול רבי:
rby aqTwl hmqTwl ythhwn khza kd lalyshe dyshral mlka wamr
The king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, “My father, shall I strike them? Shall I strike them?”
22
ואמר לא תקטול הא דשביתא בחרבך ובקשתך את קטיל שוי לחמא ומיא קדמיהון ויכלון וישתון ויזלון לרבוניהון:
lrbwnyhwn wyzlwn wyshthwn wyklwn qdmyhwn wmya lkhma shwy qTyl ath wbqshthk bkhrbk dshbytha ha thqTwl la wamr
He answered, “You shall not strike them. Would you strike those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, then go to their master.”

ואתקין להון שירו רבא ואכלו ושתיאו ושלחינון ואזלו לות רבוניהון ולא אוסיפו עוד משרית ארם למיעל בתחום ארעא דישראל:
dyshral area bthkhwm lmyel arm mshryth ewd awsypw wla rbwnyhwn lwth wazlw wshlkhynwn wshthyaw waklw rba shyrw lhwn wathqyn
He prepared a great feast for them. After they ate and drank, he sent them away and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria stopped raiding the land of Israel.

והוה בתר כן וכנש בר הדד מלכא דארם ית כל משריתיה וסליק וצר על שמרון:
shmrwn el wtsr wslyq mshrythyh kl yth darm mlka hdd br wknsh kn bthr whwh
After this, Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up and besieged Samaria.

והוה כפנא רבא בשמרון והא צירין עלה עד דהוה רישא דחמרא מזדבן בתמנן כסף ורבעת קבא דזבל מפקת יוניא בחמשא סלעין דכסף:
dksp sleyn bkhmsha ywnya mpqth dzbl qba wrbeth ksp bthmnn mzdbn dkhmra rysha dhwh ed elh tsyryn wha bshmrwn rba kpna whwh
There was a great famine in Samaria. Behold, they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.

והוה מלכא דישראל עבר על שורא ואתתא קבלא קדמוהי למימר פריק רבוני מלכא:
mlka rbwny pryq lmymr qdmwhy qbla waththa shwra el ebr dyshral mlka whwh
As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”
27
ואמר לא יפרקינך יי מנן אפרקינך המן אדרא או מן מעצרתא:
metsrtha mn aw adra hmn aprqynk mnn yy yprqynk la wamr
He said, “If Yahweh doesn’t help you, where could I get help for you? From the threshing floor, or from the wine press?”
28
ואמר לה מלכא מה ליך ואמרת אתתא הדא אמרת לי הבי ית בריך וניכליניה יומא דין וית ברי ניכול מחר:
mkhr nykwl bry wyth dyn ywma wnyklynyh bryk yth hby ly amrth hda aththa wamrth lyk mh mlka lh wamr
Then the king asked her, “What is your problem?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’

ובשילנא ית ברי ואכלנוהי ואמרית לה ביומא אוחרנא הבי ית בריך וניכליניה ואטמרת ית ברה:
brh yth waTmrth wnyklynyh bryk yth hby awkhrna bywma lh wamryth waklnwhy bry yth wbshylna
So we boiled my son and ate him; and I said to her on the next day, ‘Give up your son, that we may eat him;’ and she has hidden her son.”

והוה כד שמע מלכא ית פתגמי אתתא ובזע ית לבושוהי והוא עבר על שורא וחזא עמא והא סקא אסיר על בסריה מלגיו:
mlgyw bsryh el asyr sqa wha ema wkhza shwra el ebr whwa lbwshwhy yth wbze aththa pthgmy yth mlka shme kd whwh
When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes. Now he was passing by on the wall, and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth underneath on his body.
31
ואמר כדין יעביד לי יי וכדין יוסיף אם יתקים רישא דאלישע בר שפט עלוהי יומא דין:
dyn ywma elwhy shpT br dalyshe rysha ythqym am ywsyp wkdyn yy ly yebyd kdyn wamr
Then he said, “God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat stays on him today.”

ואלישע יתיב בביתיה וסביא יתבין עמיה ושלח גברא קדמוהי עד לא יתי אזגדא לותיה והוא אמר לסביא החזיתון ארי שלח בר קטולא הדין לאעדאה ית רישי חזו כמיתי אזגדא אחוד דשא ותדחקון יתיה בדשא הלא קל רגלי רבוניה בתרוהי:
bthrwhy rbwnyh rgly ql hla bdsha ythyh wthdkhqwn dsha akhwd azgda kmythy khzw ryshy yth laedah hdyn qTwla br shlkh ary hkhzythwn lsbya amr whwa lwthyh azgda ythy la ed qdmwhy gbra wshlkh emyh ythbyn wsbya bbythyh ythyb walyshe
But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Isn’t the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”

עד דהוא ממליל עמהון והא אזגדא נחית לותיה ואמר הא דא בישתא מן קדם יי מא אצלי קדם יי עוד:
ewd yy qdm atsly ma yy qdm mn byshtha da ha wamr lwthyh nkhyth azgda wha emhwn mmlyl dhwa ed
While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, “Behold, this evil is from Yahweh. Why should I wait for Yahweh any longer?”
